“If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack” – Coco Chanel
Whilst it’s been a while since my last post, I thought I would share my little Mac lipstick collection with you all as I personally love reading these types of posts. I’ve currently found myself reaching for my Mac lipsticks far more than any of my others and without a doubt, Mac lipsticks are probably the most talked about and lusted after lipsticks. If you’re familiar with Mac lipsticks, then you’ll know just how satisfying both the smell and a new bullet really is! There are so many different finishes, let alone shades to choose from, that no matter how many you own, you’re always going to want more!
The kickstart to my collection. Creme Cup was my first Mac lipstick which I purchased online on a whim after seeing it splashed around everywhere, literally I’m pretty sure every YouTuber and their mum were using it back in the day. Ok, so whilst I’m writing this I’ve realised how little I gravitate towards this one these days which I need to change as I really have forgotten my love for it. It’s a pretty baby pink nude in a cremesheen finish which is perfect if you don’t want anything too bold or in your face and I love wearing it underneath a nice shimmery lipgloss.
Viva Glam II
Viva Glam II is a muted pink-beige in a satin finish. This shade is so natural and it’s almost a ‘your lips but better’ kind of shade. In terms of the packaging of this one, it’s slightly different with red replacing the silver in Mac’s usual signature range, due to it being in their funded range (Viva Glam) which means a 100% of the money goes towards helping women, men and children living with and being affected by HIV/AIDS, so by purchasing this lipstick, you’re also going to be doing good to others. The texture and application of this one is a dream. It’s majorly creamy and the pigmentation is thebom.com
Now, did I even need to include the name for you to even guess this shade? This is hands down my most reached for Mac lipstick! I recently re-purchased this after my first one ran out as I just couldn’t live without it, tragic but true. Whenever I’m indecisive of what colour to wear, I will always reach for Velvet Teddy. I’m pretty sure everyone has heard of this shade and raves about it after it’s buzz from Kylie Jenner. Although I’m fully aware I probably don’t need to ramble on about this one, this is one of Mac’s matte finishes, which is a gorgeous brown toned nude. It stays matte and doesn’t need re-touching for a good two/ three hours, plus you don’t even need a mirror to apply it, now that’s when you know it’s a winner.
My go-to autumn shade! Twig is a satin finish which is probably my favourite! Satin finishes are creamy, sheer and semi-matte, which I have found to not be drying at all. As you can see, it’s a muted brownish pink but I do see a hint of a plum undertone to it, which again makes it great for autumn. Likewise, with most Mac lipsticks, this is really pigmented and never smudges! I can usually wear it for a good three/four hours without having to re-apply.
Now, if you’re after a statement matte red, this is your main guy! I remember being indecisive about purchasing Ruby Woo for a while as I was wanting a statement red in my collection but I couldn’t decide between Ruby Woo and Lady Danger. When I finally bite the bullet, I went for Ruby Woo due to its blue undertones (which FYI all blue undertones lipsticks are supposed to help make your teeth look whiter).
Now, this is a matte finish, and when I say matte, it can honestly be the devil of all mattes, so if you suffer from dry lips, this might not be the one for you. Nevertheless, this does mean it’s a sit tight vivid statement which is a perfect colour for the Chrismas season. I’m currently on my second one of these after I sadly lost my first one, but along with the red lid re-vamp, I do feel like they may have tweaked the formula ever so slightly this one is a lot less drying in comparison to my old one, yay! Neon Orange
Neon Orange really is how the name suggests, literally, it’s a vivid traffic-stopping orange. In an amplified finish, it’s a bright almost neon shade of tangerine orange. Honestly, I kindly got given this as a gift after my love with Estee Lauders Kendall Jenner collaboration ‘Restless’ lipstick, which I have to admit, as much as I love it, I have barely gotten any use out of it unless I have a tan, which is likewise with Neon Orange. Due to it being so daring and in your face, I’ve never plucked the courage to wear it out as frankly, I don’t have the confidence to manage to pull off such a daring colour.
I really am pleased with the ones I’ve collected so far and I hope to grow my collection more! I’d love to hear what your favourite Mac lipsticks are, or if you have any colour recommendations for me to add to my collection!
